Review: I was so excited about reading the latest book by Hellenga because I loved “The Sixteen Pleasures” and enjoyed his second book. He seems to have lost his imagination because he took the main characters from his earlier books and used them, unfortunately not that well, in this new book. The story line is weak and the character undeveloped. I did finish the book because I kept hoping for more. I probably should only give it one moose…but I am reserving that for a book I can’t even finish. ab

Review: This was a part historical romance – part modern day romance with some timetravel thrown in for good measure! The main character Sunshine Phillips falls in love when she is dragged from her 21st century home into the medieval world of 1375. While trying to return to present day with her newfound love, something goes wrong and they end up separated. Most of the book is about them finding one another again and coming to realize who they were to each other. I believe this is the middle book of a trilogy. ms

Review: A collection of technical articles discussing various forms of myth interpretation. The age of the book (first publish in 1955, give it a historical prespective. The editor did a good job of selecting informative articles on a full range of mythological schools. bm

Review: The main character in this book is a thirty something suburban housewife raising a toddler with a husband who is never home. She is cronically unhappy and plagued by the question “What if?”. What if she married someone else? What if she had made different choices in her life? When she learns that her former boyfriend, whom she basically considers “the one that got away”, is now engaged to be married she is further troubled. The story really takes off when she awakens one morning to find herself seven years in the past, without husband and child and still living with the former boyfriend. In the course of reliving this portion of her life, she learns that who you are is not necessarily determined by whom you are with or the choices you make. This book was very hard to put down! ms

Review: This is the 23rd book in Mary Daheim’s Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries. Like always, the book centers around Judith and her cousin Renie solving a murder mystery that they happen to stumble into. Only this one takes place in Scotland, where the two are supposed to be vacationing with their spouses. These books are very enjoyable, easy to read and you really can’t wait to read the next one! ms

Review: This book appears to be about two groups attempting to solve an old riddle. The “Good Guys” and the Rapturists. I say, “appears” because I am still not quite certain and hope that someone else reads it and writes a better review. Perhaps if I had had an English Classical Education and was better grounded in Literature, Philosophy, Mythology and the Sciences I may have been better able to understand the clues . And then, maybe not. tw

Review: An entertaining, fast moving novel about a newly divorced 60 year old man who sets out to see the US and try to figure out what its all about. A tad too much adolescent sexual fantasy but humorous. tw

Review: Plot of book is a serial killer on the Island of Mykonos in Greece. New police chief and a seasoned Greek officer tie recent murder to similar murders of tall, blonde-haired women for over 20 years. Relatively slow moving, and with a touch of local politics which tends to hinder investigation. mu
